QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q: What is the "Capture the Vision" campaign all about?
A: We want to raise money for the construction of a classroom wing addition to our church building. More importantly, we want to increase faith, both in the process of the campaign and as a result of the money given for ministry. Our focus is not on a building. Rather, the building is a tool for ministry. Our ultimate goal is to help people grow in Christ.
Q: Why raise money this way?
A: "Capture the Vision" follows the biblical pattern of asking God's people to make increased financial commitments over and above normal giving. This special giving is done for special projects and on special occasions for the kingdom of God. (I Chronicles 29, II Corinthians 8, 9.)
Q: How will I make my commitment?
A: Through prayer, participation in the Nehemiah study, meet with a representative from the campaign one-on-one or in small groups. Your commitment is between you and God, and recorded on a faith promise card.
Q: Will I be billed or receive statement concerning the commitment I make?
A: No. The commitment card you submit will be returned to you after it is recorded. All financial records will remain confidential information just as they are now with our Church Treasurer. Faith promises are recorded only to monitor our progress toward the established Victory and Challenge Goals.
Q: Why do we need to build permanent classrooms onto the church building? Won’t the new addition that we are currently working on be sufficient?
A: Candidly, the church has been under spaced or under facilitated for quite some time. We have been using our kitchen as a classroom and have another classroom in the pastor’s office. Our Nursery is undersized for our needs. At the same time, our church has continued to grow. On a recent Sunday we had 17 children in the kitchen, 5 in the pastor’s office, and 5 or 6 babies. The current ‘modular’ addition is a temporary fix that ultimately will provide much needed storage and music prep areas that are part of the master plan. The classroom facility will not only provide permanent classrooms but also modern nursery areas, an office area, and an entranceway for the church.
Q: What will the new addition look like?
A: We have an architectural drawing of the proposed addition that is going to be in our printed material.
Q: How many classrooms will be in the new addition? How much square footage is the new addition?
A: The base classroom addition will be approximately 3,400 square feet and it is estimated that it will cost around $650,000 depending on how much of the work we may be able to do ourselves. Depending on final configuration, there will be 8 rooms in the addition—A nursery, toddler area, an office area with both assistant and pastor areas, and 4 additional classrooms. We also will still have the nursery, office-classroom areas that are currently in our present building that we will be using for classrooms.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: It is estimated that the addition will cost around $650,000, depending on how much of the work we may or may not do.
Q: How much money will need to be raised in order to be able to start and complete the project?
A: We have been encouraged to raise a minimum of $300,000 to be able to build and finance the proposed addition. The final decision as to when we will build will be made after the Vision campaign results are in and we are able to meet with our financial people.
Q: Do we anticipate needing to add space to the worship center? If so, would this be a totally different project?
A: Not at this time. Trinity owns approximately 13 acres of property and has developed tentative, long range plans for site development. Worship center expansion is not one of the things we anticipate having to do at this time. Obviously, circumstances can change. We will evaluate all of our plans on a regular basis.
Q: Will the pledges that are made by couples and individuals be made public?
A: No pledge or giving by any person will be made public.
Q: Will we be doing some of the work ourselves to save money, or will it all be contracted?
A: Obviously, we want to utilize everything we can to allow us to build as economically as possible. Much and probably most of the building will have to be contracted out. However, we will be utilizing our people when and where it makes sense.
Q: If we raise enough money to do the project, what are the projected start and finish dates.
A: All schedules are tentative at this time. However, once we see where we are at the end of the Vision program, the first step will be to request our architect to develop our working drawings. At the same time we will be working with our financial people to put our interim financing in place. This will be followed by the bid process and beginning of work. Ideally, if enough money is raised to begin the project, we could possibly break ground as early as late spring, early summer of 2011. Completion would vary depending on weather and work schedule.
