It’s Shocking To Serve


GETTING TO KNOW YOU…

1. Christmas is almost upon us. What is your favorite Christmas memory? What do you look forward to the most at Christmas?

2. This week Pastor Dave talked About Service or Serving Others on Sunday morning. During this season, what act or acts of service do you remember the most that you have seen others perform?

DIGGING DEEPER

1. Mark 10:45 says, ‘For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many.’

a. As A Group, List Some of the Ways Jesus Ministered To Other People During His Earthly Ministry….

2. Mark 10:43 says ‘But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.’

a. What does this verse say to you about the type of people who we should have in leadership positions at our church?
b. What should your attitude and conduct of life be if you desire to be used of God as a true leader?

3. Read John 13:1-5 (Story of Washing The Disciples Feet).

a. Why do you think the Lord Chose “Feet” as The Object of His Service To The Disciples?
b. What do you think of when you think of Washing someone’s feet?
c. What Are some acts of service you can think of that are the equivalent of washing someone’s feet?
d. What is the true point of Jesus’ object lesson here in John 13:1-5?

4. Read Luke 10:30-37 (Story of the Good Samaritan)

a. What made The Good Samaritan Good?
b. Jesus said (v.37), ‘Go and do thou likewise.’ How, in a very practical way, can we be obedient in this to the Lord?

5. Read Luke 10:38-42 (Mary, Martha & Lazarus with Jesus)

a. Now This story illustrates the wrong type of service… What was the wrong type of service?
b. What must come first in our life that will lead us to the right kind of attitude in service?

 

TAKING IT HOME

Someone has said, ‘People do not care how much you know… Until they know how much you care.’ As you go home this week, do 2 things:
1) Evaluate… Does Your Lifestyle Reveal That You Serve From Obedience?
2) Make A List Of The Opportunities that you Have… That you Missed… Where you can begin to serve others on a daily basis…
