IT’S TIME TO GROW UP #3

Ephesians 4:14

GETTING TO KNOW YOU…

1. Holiday Season is approaching rapidly. What do you look forward to doing with your family at Thanksgiving time? Is there some long standing tradition that you enjoy together?
2. In the last week, what can you see that has occurred to demonstrate your spiritual growth is moving in a positive direction?

DIGGING DEEPER

1. Spiritual Growth Is A Habit. And Habits Take Time… What Are The Time Constraints in your life to being disciplined about the Good habits every believer needs to practice to make him/her healthy spiritually? (*IE… Bible Reading/Prayer/Fellowship with Believers) Discuss/Brainstorm with your group some ways you can overcome those time constraints…
‘Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit.’ I Timothy 4:7b (Ph)
- ‘Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.’ (NASV)

2. Spiritual Growth Is Relational… It’s All About Love… We Need Good Spiritual Friends…

‘A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.’ John 13:34-35 (KJV)

‘A man who has friends must himself be friendly.’ Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)

*THE QUESTION IS THIS…. How Can/Do You Develop Good Christian Friends? What Do You Do To Develop Them? How Can You Reach Out To Them?

3. When Thinking Of Relationships, The Biblical Phrase ‘One Another’ Comes To Mind. Look Up and Review The Following Verses… Discussing How To Apply Them…
Jn.13:34-35 Rom.12:10, 16; 14:13; 15:5; 16:16 1 Cor.12:25 Gal.5:3; 6:2
Eph.4:25, 32; 5:21 Col.3:9, 16 I Thes.4:18; 5:11, 21 Heb.3:3
Jas.5:9, 16 I Peter 3:8; 4:9

4. Spiritual growth is Incarnational… *IE.. It Has To God Doing It In You… ‘Christ in You, the Hope of Glory..’
a. If You Are a Believer… Jesus Christ is Alive, Living In You Through His Spirit..
‘Now If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his…’ Romans 8:9 (KJV)
‘Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because He hath given us of his Spirit…’ I John 4:13 (KJV)

‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.’ Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

b. What Does It Mean To You To Have The Holy Spirit of God Dwelling In You? Do you daily recognize His presence and ask him for guidance in your life?

‘But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you…’ John 14:26 (KJV)

TAKING IT HOME

The last 3 weeks we have spent our time focusing on the importance of Spiritual Growth. The Truth Is, if you’re not growing… you’re not moving forward for Christ and you’re certainly not where He wants you to be. Will You make the commitment to move forward in Spiritual Growth in your life!!

PRAYER TIME

Prayer is an important part of the Christian life, which is why we always want to take time during Courage Crossing to make prayer a priority. As You Take time for personal prayer requests, remember that good group prayer often takes effort, so here are some guidelines to help make your Courage Crossing Prayer Time more effective:

WE PRAY FOR ONE TOPIC AT A TIME- Anyone in the group is free to introduce a prayer request either before prayer begins or during the prayer time. Once a topic is introduced, the group focuses on that request alone. Once it’s covered, the group moves on to the next topic

EACH PERSON PRAYS MORE THAN ONCE. Because the group is focused on one topic at a time, each person is encouraged to pray several times during the prayer time for those topics they feel most led to pray about.

WE KEEP OUR PRAYERS SHORT AND SIMPLE- Group prayer goes better when members keep their prayers short and to the point. When someone prays for a long time, it’s hard for the other members to stay focused and long prayers tend to intimidate those who are just learning to pray out loud in the group.
