GOD’S DIRECTION IN
YOUR PESONAL PLANNING

GETTING TOKNOW YOU…
1. Now that spring is here and the weather will be getting nicer, a number of people will enjoy getting outside more often. If you had to spend a day outside with no work or obligations… where would you go? What would you do? Who would you bring along?
2. Pastor Dave asked the question this morning, ‘Have you ever made a decision you regretted? ‘

a. have you ever made a decision that you regretted? If you can share, what was the decision about?
b. Why did you make the decision and not a different one?

c. How long did it take you to overcome the impact/affects of that decision?

3. Looking back on this week’s sermon, what particular point, statement or Scripture caught your attention, challenged or confused you the most?

DIGGING DEEPER
1. How does Proverbs 3:5-6 ‘plug in’ or apply to this morning’s message?
Proverbs 3:5-6; ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths..’

a. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart’
How are you demonstrating… How can you demonstrate your trust in God in your personal planning?

b. ‘And lean not on your own understanding’
‘Lean not’ literally means the same thing as Proverbs 16:3; ‘Commit thy works’ which literally means ‘roll yourself upon the Lord..’ How does this apply?

c. ‘In all your ways acknowledge Him’
‘Acknowledge Him’ literally means to ‘see God in everything you do’… How can you acknowledge God in your personal planning?

2. One of the principles in the ‘Preparation Stage’ is that of Consultation:
‘For by wise counsel thou shalt make war: and in multitude of counselors there is safety.’ Proverbs 24:6
‘Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.’ Proverbs 11:14
‘Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established.’ Proverbs 15:22
*Who Are Some Of The People God Has ‘Plugged’ Into Your Life That You Can/Should Consult When Making Important Decisions In Your Life?

3. In The ‘Self-Realizaton’ Stge, One Of The Principles Is That Of ‘Destination’ or ‘Focus’
‘Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.’ Proverbs 17:24

1. Does Your life have a True Focus?

2. What Does God Want you to be focusing on?

4. In discussing the “Principle of Evaluation’, Dave talked about the ‘many voices’ in our world that are vying for our attention… The only Voice That truly counts being that of the Voice of God..

5. Of the things that were touched upon in the message this morning, what one do you belive the most difficult to practice/apply? Why?

TAKING IT HOME

PRAYER TIME
Prayer is an important part of the Christian life, which is why we always want to take time during Courage Crossing to make prayer a priority. Good group prayer often takes effort, so here are some guidelines to help make your Courage Crossing Prayer Time more effective:

WE PRAY FOR ONE TOPIC AT A TIME- Anyone in the group is free to introduce a prayer request either before prayer begins or during the prayer time. Once a topic is introduced, the group focuses on that request alone. Once it’s covered, the group moves on to the next topic

EACH PERSON PRAYS MORE THAN ONCE. Because the group is focused on one topic at a time, each person is encouraged to pray several times during the prayer time for those topics they feel most led to pray about.

WE KEEP OUR PRAYERS SHORT AND SIMPLE- Group prayer goes better when members keep their prayers short and to the point. When someone prays for a long time, it’s hard for the other members to stay focused and long prayers tend to intimidate those who are just learning to pray out loud in the group.
