Psalm 90

GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU BEYOND WHERE HIS GRACE CAN DELIVER YOU

GOD WILL DELIVER YOU, IN A DIFFICULT DAY…
I. WHEN YOU TRUST IN HIS SOVEREIGNTY… (v.1-6)
‘Adonai’ – ‘Lord’
‘Lord, You have been our dwelling place..shelter…’

1. He Is Sovereign Over All Of History…
‘Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations…’ v.1

2. He Is Sovereign Over The Universe.. This World
‘Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world…’ v.2

3. He Is Sovereign Over All Eternity
‘Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. V.2b

4. He Is Sovereign Over All Of Life
‘You turn man to destruction, And say, “Return, O children of men.”’ V.3

5. He Is Sovereign Over Time
‘For a thousand years in Your sight are like yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night.’ v.4

6. God Is Sovereign Over Men
‘You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.” v.5-6

II. WHEN WE TRUST IN HIS STANDARD (v.7-12)
‘For we have been consumed by your anger, and by Your wrath we are terrified. You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.’ v.7-8
‘Our secret sins..’
‘So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.’ V.12

III. WHEN WE TRUST IN HIS SALVATION (v.13-17)
‘Return, O Lord! How long? And have compassion on Your servants.’ V.13
*’Return’ – ‘to turn.. to turn around.. to turn again… to turn back..’… ‘REPENT’

A. A Recompensing Joy
‘Oh satisfy us early with Your mercy. That we may rejoice and be glad all our days! Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, The years in which we have seen evil…’ v.14-15

B. A Revelation
‘Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your glory to their children.’ v.16

C. A Request
‘And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.’ v.17

‘And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up….
…. that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life..’ John 3:14-15
