NEHEMIAH CARED
WHY?
I. HE CARED ENOUGH TO ASK (v.1-3)
‘The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah.’ Nehemiah 1:1 (NKJV)
‘It came to pass in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Sushan the citadel.’ Nehemiah 1:1
‘That Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah; AND I ASKED THEM concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.’ v.2
‘And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and it’s gates are burned with fire.’ v.3

II. HE CARED ENOUGH TO WEEP…
‘So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.’ Nehemiah 1:4
‘But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd.’ Matthew 9:36
III. HE CARED ENOUGH TO PRAY… (v.5-10)
‘And he said, I pray, Lord God of heaven…’
‘Men ought always to pray, and not to faint..’ Luke 18:1
‘The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.’
James 5:16
‘Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you..’ Matthew 7:7
IV. HE CARED ENOUGH TO VOLUNTEER….
‘exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.’ Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
‘O Lord, I pray, please let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.’ Nehemiah 1:11
